Eloping on the caldera is the Santorini you have seen in every photograph - whitewashed villages hanging over a deep blue sea, the volcano islands below, and that famous golden light in the evening. Saying your vows up here feels like standing on the edge of the world, in the best way.
We know the quiet corners of the caldera - the terraces and viewpoints away from the crowds, especially around Imerovigli - and we set up your ceremony where it feels private and calm. A photographer who knows exactly where the sun will drop completes the picture.
How a caldera elopement in Santorini works
Most caldera elopements are symbolic ceremonies, so there is no paperwork involved - you celebrate here and handle the legal part at home whenever you like. If you want a legally binding wedding instead, we will explain what documents are needed and how early to prepare them. Many couples propose one day and elope a few days later - we love planning it that way.
What a caldera elopement includes
Every caldera elopement starts from our symbolic wedding packages: the Essential ceremony (€850) brings the celebrant, our coordinator for the hour of the ceremony, a bottle of champagne, music for your entrance and a keepsake certificate; the Superior package (€1,600) adds private transport, a photographer for one hour with 60 colour-graded pictures, a videographer and the ceremony decorations; the Premium package (€1,900) adds the bridal bouquet, the groom's boutonniere and a hairdresser at your hotel. Prices do not include VAT. On the caldera we add the terrace or viewpoint itself, chosen with you around Imerovigli or Firostefani, away from the sunset crowds of Oia, and a red carpet or a small gazebo where the terrace allows it.
Where on the caldera, and when
Imerovigli sits highest above the sea and looks straight at the volcano; Firostefani is quieter and closer to Fira; Oia is the postcard but also the busiest place on the island at sunset, so we rarely suggest it for vows. We time the ceremony for the hour before sunset, around 8 pm in July and 6 pm in October, so the vows happen in the golden light and the photos finish as the sun drops. The cliff paths have steps: flat shoes for the walk, heels for the photos if you like.
Can we have dinner after the vows?
Yes: a private dinner at the AION venue at the Old Port of Fira or a table at a caldera restaurant, booked together with the ceremony.
What if it is windy?
The caldera can be windy in the afternoon; we keep a sheltered terrace as a fallback and decide with you on the day.
